Obituary for Brother James Steven Starkey

James Steven Starkey, 78, of Clarksburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 peacefully at his home. He was born on August 14, 1941, the son of the late Chester Arthur and Geneva Trader Starkey.

James was a veteran of the United States Army and a Purple Heart Recipient as a result of being injured at Camp Holloway. He heroically served as a medic in the Vietnam War from 1965 until the end of the war. James was employed as a medical technician at the Veteran’s Hospital until his retirement. He was a member of the Christian Apostolic Church, Clarksburg (Arlington Addition), WV. James loved spending time with his family and his favorite hobby was fishing.

James is survived by his wife of 24 years, Nancy Starkey; children, Rocky Joe Zucha, Huston, TX, Rebecca Lamoureux and Kenneth, Bridgeport, Laura Delaney, Parkersburg, Robert and Cordelia Wiley, Clarksburg; one brother, Allen Starkey and Storm of Morgantown; grandchildren, Brian Murphy Jr, Brianna Bartlett and Zach, Brittiny Shisler and Daniel, Nathan Peck, Caleb Zucha and Renee, James Wiley, and Brandon Wiley; great grandchildren, Mila Parrish, Elias Shisler, Silas Bartlett, Kallie Zucha; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by fourteen brothers and three sisters.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
